HOME HEALTH ASSISTANT
Part-time position, primarily day shift, rotating weekends and "on-call". Requires National Home Care Certification.
JOB SUMMARY: Performs home health assistant services according to the Service's mission and philosophy. Provides home health assistant care under the direction of the assigned registered nurse.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
High School graduate or equivalent required. Successful completion of National Home Care Aide Certification Program prior to performing direct patient care. Possesses a current and valid driver's license and proof of automotive personal and property liability insurance; meets Service's motor vehicle record standards at time of hire. BCLS certified.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Copes with work involving ill, disabled, and dying patients. Reads, speaks and writes English in order to fulfill job functions in an understandable way. See/hear or use prosthetics that enable them to accomplish essential job functions. CPR certification within three months of employment and annually thereafter.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:
Acute patient care environment and/or home care setting with possible exposure to transmittable disease. Fast-paced, changing environment. Within patient homes, may be subject to odors, smoke, unsanitary or poorly maintained conditions, clutter, insect infestation, and temperature extremes. Driving conditions subject to Michigan weather.
