BEHAVIORAL HEALTH TECHNICIAN - Coldwater MI

JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures may be assigned to assist with direct care of patients. Interacts with Behavioral Health patients on an acute inpatient unit as directed and delegated by the RN which may include one-on-one counseling sessions, group therapeutic activities, patient education classes, monitoring patient on suicide or in seclusion or restraints. This position also requires taking and recording vital signs, charting daily in progress notes, monitoring supplies and refilling stock, preparing charts for admissions and communicating information to the R.N.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
High school graduate or equivalent required. Some college credits or previous experience in Behavioral Health related field preferred.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Good communication skills, physical intervention techniques updated yearly. Yearly completion of required competencies. BCLS required within 6 months of hire.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:
Moderate to maximum risk of physical harm from aggressive patients.
SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is medium to heavy demand but requires prolonged periods of standing and walking on duty. Lifting and pushing are required when working with patients and moving carts, wheelchairs, stretchers and other types of equipment. Handling, reaching and manual dexterity are required when distributing supplies and equipment and when checking patients.
